camping and cooking? 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello

I am an industrial design student trying to do some research for my senior project. I am dealing with camping and cooking and everything that in encompassed with that (i.e. food preparation, food storage, clean up etc.) Eventually I am going to design a new product that will hopefully help in this area.

What I was wondering is what is your opinion on the matter. What works for you? What doesn't? Do you enjoy cooking or do you go to the nearest restaurant? What problems do you have with current products? Anything that you do or use that facilitates you eating a meal would be helpful.

Any kind of opinion on the matter would help immensely and thank you in advance for any and all of the help.

Thanks again
Mark

That is not even to complicated, Make sure you prep everything at home, I cook everything from pot roasts with potatoes and veggies, to homemade beans and ham, chili, pretty much anything, its all in the prep. you must do at home.

One great way to cook while you are camping is to barbecue. You might check out this article on barbecued chicken to get ideas of what is involved:

Maybe you can come up with a more efficient and more safe barbeque grill design for charcoal!

Hi Mark!

I just got back from a week of tent camping and thought I'd reply to this post while everything is fresh on my mind!

I use a Coleman propane stove for the most part, but also use the campfire to cook things like pancakes and such. As for the stove, you cannot comfortably fit 2 frying pans on it at the same time. When you use the second burner, the first loses a lot of the heat. The propane heat doesn't cook evenly over the pan--it does more so on cast iron, but 2 cast irons would never fit!

Number 1, I'd like a more functional propane stove.

We have an older cooler, which doesn't seem to keep things cold for long, basically ice stays for about 1 day depending on the weather.

Number 2, I'd like a cooler that is more airtight and can actually keep things cold / frozen for longer and that is not electric!

Thanks!

MoeAnge.
